JERSEY CITY, N.J. – The supervisor of permits and connection fees for the Jersey City Municipal Utilities Authority pleaded guilty Thursday to extorting corrupt cash payments from contractors, Acting U.S. Attorney Ralph J. Marra, Jr. announced.

United States Secret Service BadgeJERSEY CITY, NJ - Federal and Hudson County authorities have arrested more than 45 people in connection with an alleged fake check ring based in Jersey City which victimized local businesses by making counterfeit payroll checks.

According to authorities, the ring is believed to have stolen more than $140,000.00 in northern New Jersey and New York.
