To celebrate 2 billion users - not to mention 4 billion eyeballs on Facebook ads - the company is launching "Good Adds Up" videos.

Facebook past its prime?

Per the CEO and founder of Facebook Mark Zuckerberg, the big blue social network now has 2-billion people in it. Although if we compare Facebook with other social network like Twitter it has only 328 million monthly active users. As Facebook evolved over the past decade and more, it became less about static webpages and more about being a source of news.

To attract more users Facebook has been building up its services by increasing focus on livestreaming and has been ramping up its camera features.

The social media giant reached the 1 billion mark for monthly active users in October 2012, a few months after it went public in May of that year.

Last week, with the 2 billion user-mark approach, Zuckerberg updated Facebook's mission statement and cultural aspirations. Facebook made an average $4.23 per user in the first quarter.

He said in a Facebook post that he is proud of the role his company is playing in connecting people around the world.

Facebook defines hate speech as attacks on people based on their race, sexual orientation and other "protected characteristics". Tied for third at 1.2 billion is WhatsApp, which is owned by Facebook, and the Facebook Messenger app. "Now let's bring the world closer together". It will also be increasing the number of "good job" style messages it populates into your feed whenever you wish someone a happy birthday, create a group, or use the "love" reaction on a post. "Reaching this milestone is just one small step towards that goal". "We saw it coming because they are growing so rapidly".
