The Real Madrid team were given a fantastic reception after they returned home to celebrate with their supporters following their Champions League triumph over Juventus in Cardiff on Saturday night.

"I was happy I got on and happy to play a part".

A calf injury also saw him nearly miss the Champions League final, but he made his return off the bench in Saturday's 4-1 win over Juventus.

"The Champions League is always hard to win, especially against a team that had only let in three goals so far this season". News24 editors also reserve the right to edit or delete any and all comments received.

"It's Madrid's third Champions League in four years and my third as a professional".

It was the Portugal captain's son - Cristiano Ronaldo Jr - who stole the show after the thrilling match with his skills. It was the team's sixth title since the competition's new format was created in 1992, two more than Barcelona. But the 27-year-old says he is determined to remain in Madrid and add to his impressive trophy collection at the Bernabeu.

Marcelo was one of the best players on the pitch.

Manager Zinedine Zidane praised his players after becoming the first manager to retain the European title since Arrigo Sacchi accomplished the feat with AC Milan in 1989 and 1990.

"Now he is the best coach in the world".

"Zidane and his staff detected Juventus' defensive weakness, so throughout the week, in preparation for the final, we practiced return passes", Modric told HTV and Sportske Novosti.

Zidane, who helped Madrid win five different titles since taking over the squad in 2016, including the team's first Spanish league title in five years, has only one year left on his contract but is widely expected to stay.

"We have won three Champions Leagues in four seasons so we have to be in that category", he said.
