Helton was scheduled to appear in court Monday afternoon.
According to a court affidavit, Helton admitted to shooting the children in the head to 'save them from the evils of the world'.
A woman has been accused of shooting two of her children in the head in OH and has been arrested.
Those children, 8-year-old Khmorra and 6-year-old Kaiden, died Sunday evening after suffering gun shot wounds to the head on May 18. She is charged with two counts of attempted murder and four counts of aggravated assault.
When police arrived, both Khmorra and Kaiden were found outside the front of the home and Helton was walking around nude. Authorities have said they think she might have mental health problems.
An 11-year-old daughter also was at the home but wasn't hurt.
At the time of the shootings, there was an active investigation against Helton by Montgomery County Children Services, according to WHIO.
The police chief says detectives will be conferring with the Montgomery county prosecutors about criminal charges against her.
"From what I've seen and noticed, she and the kids got along fine", Sanders said.
