A prototype version recently took on the Nurburgring, sporting close to 600 horsepower from a 5.0-liter supercharged V8 engine.
This suggests it will beat the 3.5sec 0-60mph time of Jaguar's current most accelerative road auto, the all-wheel drive F-Type SVR, edging the XE SV into the realms of hardcore machinery like the Porsche 911 GT3 and ahead of fellow limited-run track special, the BMW M4 GTS. The 600PS Jaguar XE SV Project 8 will be limited to just 300 examples and be powered by a supercharged 5.0-litre V8 petrol engine.
Jaguar has revealed details of its most powerful road auto to date. I'm a little surprised they went with the XE for this one, but I'm also excited to see just how insane they can make it.
"The time is right for SVO to produce the most extreme performance road vehicle in the history of Jaguar", said SVO boss, John Edwards.
The team is very enthusiastic and is committed to the creation of a thrilling experience for the driver.
The V8 in the XE SV Project 8 produces a humungous 592bhp, which is 25bhp more compared to the V8 used in Jaguar's F-TYPE-based Project 7. The public debut is set for the 2017 Goodwood Festival of Speed, and we already know that the specs will be announced two days before the event.
Jaguar has given a disguised first look at the auto set to become the most powerful road vehicle in the British automaker's history, the XE SV Project 8. Regardless of the figures, the most powerful production Jaguar ever made for the road will only be manufactured in 300 units, and each will be hand-assembled. Price hasn't been released, but Edwards stated that, "The price for such an extreme performance sports auto available in strictly limited numbers will reflect that".
And it's not just under the bonnet where the XE SV Project 8 makes an impression: as you can see from these images, its bodywork has also received significant attention.
